As the protracted crisis in North West and South West Regions of Cameroon tarry on, glimpse of hope to an end remain blur. Killing of both civilians and men with arms of both sides of the belligerents have remained on the rise.
Early this week, in the North West region reports have emerged both on social media and on-the-ground information of no less than seven people killed.
In Bali, attacks were rained on state security forces leaving at least five uniformed men dead, collateral damage with a pickup car belonging to the police destroyed, weapons seized displayed in videos that have been making turns on social media.
In the videos shot and disseminated on Sunday July 18, part of the attack appears to be an ambush on the police pickup car, with three uniformed men shot dead. Another show the jubilant armed men display their booty – guns and ammunition claimed from their raid on the state security forces.
In Bambui, on the night of same day, a police officer is alleged to have been slaughtered by “Field Marshall No Pity” whose alleged presence in Tubah has left the locality terrified with gunshots raining at nights.
Another incident was registered same July 18, 2021 in Donga Mantung, in a locality known as Lasing where 38-year old bike rider whose name was only gotten as Nkeh was snatched life for transporting military men on his bike.
In reaction to the Bali incident the Senior Division Officer for Mezam, Simon Emile Mooh has in a prefectorial decision restricted the circulation of motorbikes in Bali.
The decision which was ordered Tuesday, July 20, stipulates that “the circulation of Motor Bikes is hereby prohibited in Bali Sub-Division, Mezam Division, North West Region for a period of three (03) months renewable”, registered as order No. 436/PO/E.29/ALPAS.
The decision pundits say is another routine action of the regime reluctant to solve the Anglophone crisis. To them this decision is only going to swell the number of recruits in the bushes.
Administrators in the Region have in several outings blamed bikers for compromising by allowing armed men to use their sector to commit atrocities.
