The President of the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (MRC), Prof Maurice kamto has condemned the October 5th attack of the country’s PM Chief Dr, Joseph Dion Ngute by alleged Anglophone separatist fighters.
The PM was on his way to visit the North West Region when sporadic gunshots were fired at his entourage at Matazem, entrance to the Region. The agenda of the visit was to meet and consult with the people of the Region on how to implement resolutions of a major national dialogue thatheld in 2019 in a bid to resolve the Anglophone crisis.
In release, the MRC leader calls on government to urgently call for a genuine and inclusive dialogue to resolve the crisis. Professor Maurice Kamto said it was malicious and arrogant for Cameroon’s External Relations Minister, Lejeune Mbella Mbella to tell the UN General Assembly that peace was gradually returning to the war-ravaged North West and South West Regions.
Maurice Kamto writes that this does not reflect the situation on the ground where civilians and military causalities were constant. He has advised government to now recognized the impertinence of the military option and convene a genuine and inclusive dialogue to put an end to what the MRC leader considers a “disaster”.
