US Court prosecuting three Anglophone Cameroonians for Arm Trafficking

The sociopolitical crisis in the Northwest and Southwest Regions of Cameroon that has been for four years and counting is attracting international concern. The Biden administration seems to be taking the lead.

A show of interest by the Biden administration has seen more pressure on parties involved in the crisis that has paralyzed the crisis torn English-speaking regions.

Recent of US feat is the muster of three persons believed to be of Cameroonian nationality in a court in the United States of America.

The accused, from reports are being prosecuted for allegedly playing lead role in the trafficking of fire arms into the restive English-speaking Regions of Cameroon via the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Alambi Walters Muma, Tamufoh Nchumuluh St Michael, and Edith Ngang aka Ma Ngang, are said to be supporters of the separatist movement fighting for independent State for the Southwest and Northwest Regions.

If convicted, the activists will forfeit, “… any property, real or personal, which constitute or derived from proceeds traceable to the offenses, or which involved in such offenses, or any property traceable to such property.”

The charges against the three Cameroonians come at a time the US recently announced visa restrictions on persons working against peace in the restive Northwest and Southwest Regions of Cameroon.

It follows allegations that separatist fighters have been using firearms and weapons coming in the country from neighbouring Nigeria.
